" I am the only child and my mother is jobless. My mother is mentally challenged. My father died in 2023 he was jobless too. We are homeless and we live somewhere temporary if good Samaritans give us shelter. The church is currently doing fundraising to build us a 1 roomed house. We have financial challenges and no food to sustain us. We work hard to earn a living, but it’s not enough due to high cost of living and less salary, and no reliable day work in the farms due to drought.

I am practically orientated thus like using my hands to create something good and make work out of it. I am hard working and strong. I can work with others in harmony and follow instructions as said and wished in my work. I have been doing all kind of manual work to earn a living and assist my mother. We have no means of stable and enough income to sustain ourselves leave alone for study. I was out of school most of the time because I had not paid all fees so learning was difficult but I have the determination to learn and focus on my study." 

Ambitie/droom:

"I would like to learn more about building and get knowledge to be able to earn a living from building and constructing houses for people and institutions. I have applied to Join Masonry at Ziwa Technical Institute and I have gotten admission. I am applying for bursary but I am not sure if I get from the Kenyan government. This could ease part of the fees burden.
I need financial support for the total package of study that means fees, accommodation, transport, learning materials including mobile phone for study and attachment costs at the end of my course. I would if I graduate assist in impacting change in the workforce of my fields and apply the knowledge I got to help others in construction matters in day today life"

Jacob is enthousiast begonnen op de opleiding in Ziwa. Hij heeft woonruimte gevonden en is zeer gemotiveerd om er een succes van te maken. We hebben hem ontmoet in Ndabarnach waar hij woont. Hij woonde met zijn verstandelijk beperkte moeder zonder vaste verblijfplaats, maar de kerk heeft gelukkig gezorgd voor een huisje voor zijn moeder. Het was indrukwekkend om zo’n jonge gedreven jongen te spreken. Hij gaf aan dat hij zich voor het eerst als mens gezien voelde doordat er mensen zijn die hem willen ondersteunen en zijn kwaliteiten zien.
